A text-to-voice prerecorded outgoing message said, "This is Chase."
The live operator, calling himself Andrew John, lied, giving the telephone number 800-945-2000. He also said that he can be reached at 754-757-7501. The carrier for that number is Bandwidth.com CLEC, LLC. Multiple calls to that number between 11:00 AM and 12:00 PM on July 13, 2020 resulted, oddly, in one ring and then a busy signal.
Before cowardly hanging up, John heard the hashtag AndrewJohn. #AndrewJohn
A subsequent call to Chase at 800-945-2000 (actually a Chase number) confirmed that the telemarketing call was not from Chase. In 2018, Mark S. wrote about that number on the FTC website.
A woman who answered at the caller ID number said that she did not make that call. #neighborspoofing
Chase provided the email address phishing@chase.com. JPMorgan Chase Bank, National Association is identified with national bank Charter Number 8. #n100008
